Way back in 2015, Governor Bruce Rauner declared pumpkin pie our state pie.
Illinois is the pumpkin powerhouse of the nation, producing more pumpkins than any other state. I learned something new today!
What's even crazier is that 95% of the U.S. pumpkin crop meant for processing comes from our fields, according to the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
So when you bust open a can of pumpkin, it’s likely that it comes from our great state!
To be honest, pumpkin pie is just so damn good. When I see it at the store right when I walk in, I know fall is either almost here... or it's in full swing.
Pumpkin pie embodies the spirit of fall in Illinois! Great to serve at parties, grab a late night slice right before bed, or have at Thanksgiving. Whoa, we're already talking Thanskgiving! Where did the year go?!
