Halloween Fun in Byron, Illinois
If you love seeing scary Halloween displays, but don't like actors jumping out at you which is the norm at most haunted houses, check out this spooky property in Byron, Illinois.
Roy and Renee Motes moved to a 6 acre property in Byron a few years ago, and from the looks of it, this couple REALLY loves Halloween so they put that passion to good use creating a massive Halloween display for the Stateline area to enjoy.
The Motes don't just have a few spooky displays and a bunch of lights to drive by and look at...this display is one you need to get out of your car to experience.
The couple have created a haunted trail throughout their property featuring many of your favorite freaky characters, but there's also a graveyard, a haunted house in their pole barn, and other spooky sights. Oh, and the best part? It's completely free to walk through and enjoy!
When I asked the Motes what inspired them to create their Halloween Haunted Trails, this is what Renee told me;
We try to go all out for Halloween and Christmas, this way the community and others can enjoy the little things in life because this world have gone crazy.
So true, Renee...and sooo cool!
The Motes' property is located at 12112 North Hoisington Rd. Byron, and the haunted trails will be open this Friday and Sunday (it is closed Saturday, October 19) from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and then will be open every night through Halloween from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Thank you Roy and Renee for creating such a fun thing for community families to enjoy this Halloween, I can't wait to see what you do for Christmas!

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years
Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
