Learn how swimming and aquatic fitness can help you find the key to a healthier you!
My friend Tiffany Priddy has been on a weight loss journey this year and she credits swimming to helping her lose weight and become stronger. I got a chance to talk to her about how many amazing ways swimming can benefit a person.
"Firstly, it is a full-body workout. It engages each muscle group, including arms, legs, torso, and abdomen. It improves sleep by stretching your muscles, boosting your mood, and creating positive feel-good endorphins. Depriving your senses completely creates an ideal environment for sleep at bedtime. Swimming does wonders for mental health. It is simply a relaxing, fun activity that allows you to clear your mind and focus on the present moment. Swimming helps build cardiovascular strength, increases your metabolic rate, and improves your body form. A major benefit is it is low impact, making it ideal for those of us suffering from joint issues or mobility issues. It is also known to improve lung health and the effects of asthma. It can help regulate blood sugar and possibly even help reduce the risk of heart disease."
Tiffany has taken back her health with the help of dieting and aquatic exercise and wants to let everyone know that getting healthy is possible, no matter your body type and skill level.
"I joined the gym on January 8th of this year. Over the past 7+ months, I've watched my body slowly but surely shrink and tone as I work to build muscle and strength. I went from being basically immobile to being able to do a class and a half hour of laps. I'm stronger than ever before and I never needed the machines. The water alone was an amazing workout! I am down 113 pounds and counting."
