Why You Should Watch ‘The Pitt’ if You Haven’t Already
Last night at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, a new drama series was nominated in 13 categories. The Pitt starring Noah Wylie and an incredible ensemble of actors. The show is available for streaming on HBO Max, and if you haven't seen it yet, you are missing out.
The Pitt Wins Big at the 2025 Emmy Awards
The Pitt took home three major trophies: Noah Wylie won Best Actor for his lead role as Dr. Robby, and Best Supporting Actress went to Katherine LaNasa for her portrayal of Nurse Dana Evans. The show itself won the "Big Kahuna" award of the night, Outstanding Drama Series.
Thank You First Responders & Healthcare Workers
Creator and showrunner, R. Scott Gemmill, took time to show love to the cast and crew's inspiration, "I want to dedicate this on behalf of everyone, to all the healthcare workers, frontline first responders,” he concluded. “Respect them, protect them, trust them. Thank you!”
What is The Pitt About?
The first season of the series follows a 15-hour day in the life of the emergency department of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. While the hospital doesn't actually exist, the situations portrayed in each episode are incredibly relevant and truly shine a light on current topics such as accidental overdose, mental health, vaccines, COVID, and gun violence.

If You Liked E.R., You Will Like The Pitt
If you were a fan of E.R., you will love The Pitt not just because of Noah Wylie, but because of the fast-paced, emotion-filled episodes. Each one is an hour of a shift for the doctors, nurses, and doctors-in-training who happen to be experiencing their first day in the midst of chaos. The cast is diverse, each character is unique, and the acting is authentic.
Season Two of The Pitt Airs January 2026
While there are visuals that could make some queasy (myself included), it isn't overwhelming or too gory. I don't typically do well with anything remotely graphic, and I only had to cover my eyes a couple of times. It is worth it, for sure! I'm excited for Season Two, which is scheduled to premiere on January 8, 2026.
That means you have plenty of time to watch the first season before then. If you're like me, you'll end up spending a weekend afternoon watching "just one more episode."
