When I was a little kid, my favorite playthings were my toy cars (Matchbox, Hot Wheels) and my comic books. I had gigantic collections of both. I wish I still had my comics, but as I got older, I stopped reading them, so I gave them to a younger relative who loved them. Great home. But my toy cars? I still have a few of them left; when I was 13, my mother suggested I hang onto some favorites.

As for the ones I tossed? Dad drove me across the river to a junkyard that was right across from where Marvin's Fireworks is today. It may still be a junkyard, for all I know. Anyway, that's where I unloaded all my old toy cars. (Don't worry, collectors, none of them were in decent shape.)

The World's Largest Classic Car Junkyard

So you can imagine my delight when I learned of a junkyard in northern Georgia that isn't just any old junkyard. It's the largest junkyard for classic cars in the world. It's in White, Georgia, and I feel like I need to visit. I no longer have any old Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars to feed it, but I'd still like to go. How much fun.

Known as "Old Car City," it covers over 34 acres and features more than 5,000 old cars and trucks. I would be in heaven.

My memories of Georgia are filled with old vintage motels and roadside attractions. Its life began in the 1930s, so I wish we had known about it when I was a kid. There's always room for more great memories.
