I Created My Own Signature Fragrance at This Newburgh Shop
Of all the new things I’ve experienced since moving to Indiana, I definitely didn’t expect creating my very own fragrance to make the list.
Since moving to Indiana, I’ve experienced a lot of firsts. Most of them have involved events I had never heard of, local traditions I didn't know existed or things that only true Hoosiers seem to understand.
This time, though, my latest Indiana first was completely different. I got to create my own fragrance.
Before visiting ScentSations Fragrance Lab on Jennings Street in Newburgh, I honestly didn't even know that a create-your-own-fragrance shop was a thing. Where I'm from, I had never come across anything like it, so as soon as I heard about the concept, I knew I wanted to try it. And once I walked into their fragrance room, I was sold.

First of All, This Room Is a Dream
If you're someone who loves an aesthetically pleasing experience, Scentsations has that covered.
The fragrance room immediately caught my attention. It's bright, inviting, and set up specifically for the experience, with enough room for a group to enjoy it together.

There are so many different scents to choose from that, admittedly, I had no idea where I was supposed to begin.

The ladies at ScentSations walked me through the entire process, which was extremely helpful because otherwise I probably would have been standing there smelling everything with absolutely no game plan.
They start by asking about scents you already enjoy and what you're hoping to create. Maybe you're looking for something seasonal, sweet, fresh, floral, or something completely different.
Once you start narrowing down your favorites, they help you figure out which fragrances pair well together.
That's probably what I enjoyed most about the experience. You don't need to walk in knowing anything about fragrance or which scents complement one another. They help guide you through the process while still allowing you to create something that's completely your own.
And by the end, you've created a fragrance that nobody picked off a shelf for you.
It's your scent.
This Would Be Such a Fun Girls' Day
While creating my fragrance, I kept thinking about how many different occasions this would be perfect for.
A bridal shower? Absolutely.
A bachelorette party? Yes.
Birthdays, girls' days, date nights, or even just an excuse to get a group of friends together and try something different? This would be so much fun.
I also love the idea of coming in before your wedding and creating a signature scent specifically for your wedding day. Scent and memory are so closely connected that having a fragrance you associate with one of the biggest days of your life could make the experience even more special.
