 A Legendary Career In Baseball

If you’re a baseball fan, you already know the name. You know his achievements, his stats, his amazing career, and his amazing mustache! But here in Evansville, he is more than all of that – he is our neighbor, our friend, and a proud Evansville native!

After his career as a player with the New York Yankees, Don spent five years managing the Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by seven seasons as skipper of the Miami Marlins. Next, he spent some time in the great white north as a coach for the Toronto Blue Jays before deciding to retire from professional baseball. Donnie Baseball just couldn’t stay away, though. Next thing you know, he announced he was heading to Philly to work alongside his son Preston, who is the General Manager for the Phillies.

Can He Turn The Phillies Season Around

So, now, all eyes are on Mattingly to see if he can take a super-talented roster and start winning again. As of this writing, the team is 9-19 and tied for last place in the National League East Division. Obviously, there is a ton of baseball left in this season, and there is no reason the Phillies can’t live up to expectations as one of the best teams in the NL.

I am a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, but I am also proud to call Evansville home, so I’m super excited to see what Mattingly can do with the team. I’m pulling for him – at least until October!
