How to Protect Yourself from Skimming Devices

  • Inspect ATMs: Before using an ATM, quickly scan the machine for signs of tampering. Look for loose screws, damaged parts, or anything that appears out of place.
  • Avoid Non-Bank ATMs: Whenever possible, stick to ATMs located inside banks. These machines are generally more secure.
  • Check the Keypad: If the keypad feels loose or buttons are difficult to press, it could be a sign of a false keypad.
  • Always Cover Your PIN: Shield your PIN from view when entering it into the ATM.
  • Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly check your bank statements for any unauthorized transactions.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice anything suspicious at an ATM or on your account, contact the police and your bank immediately.
