What comes to mind when you think of something being wild? That word is probably most often associated with animals and nature, or with someone's attitude and/or behavior. That word could mean a lot of different things, right? In fact, Merriam-Webster provides about 20 different ways to define the word wild. So, keeping all of that in mind, what cities do you think are the wildest in America?

Nashville, TN, aka Music City, USA, is home to the Grand Ole Opry and boot-scootin' good times. Nashville also now has the distinction of being the 17th wildest city in America. What makes Nashville worthy of this list?

Nashville's "wildness" ranking likely comes from the city's booming bachelorette scene, energetic nightlife, and let's not forget, the honky tonks lining Broadway. I'm sure those factors (and more) have contributed to the following statistics used to compile the wild list...

  • Adults Who Binge Drink/Drink Heavily - 18%
  • People Who Have Taken Marijuana - 64.2%
  • People Who Have Taken Cocaine - 20.3%
  • Number of Strip Clubs - 3

Some of America's Surprisingly Wild Cities

Did you expect Nashville to be higher on the list? I think I did. In fact, I was surprised by several of the rankings. For example, Reno, NV was ranked #1, but Las Vegas, NV was ranked #4. Doesn't that seem bass ackward? How about this shocker - New Orleans, the home of Mardi Gras, was ranked #15, while Portland was #2 on the list (their 52 strip clubs could have something to do with that).

So, the next time you're planning a trip, consider Nashville. Just be prepared – you might just find your own wild side along the way, with a soundtrack of country classics and the unmistakable twang of a Southern night.

Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, owned a 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2-half-bathroom home in an affluent Nashville suburb called Brentwood. The 7,000-square-foot mansion features a wet bar, fitness center and tennis court, as well as a four-car garage, walk-out basement with heated marble floors and extra appliances, including a sub-zero fridge and wine fridge. That house is where Underwood suffered a devastating fall in 2017.

The couple sold the luxurious home for $1,410,000 in March of 2019, after they moved into the massive dream home that they had spent several years building from scratch.
