Some things never change...like the fact that severe weather has been a threat to Kentucky for as along as any of us can remember.

In 2015, the Commonwealth experienced four federally-declared disasters that were weather-related.

And now, Governor Matt Bevin has designated this week, February 22-28, as Severe Weather Awareness Week.

And as part of the activities during this week, there will be a statewide tornado drill Tuesday, February 23rd, at approximately 9:07AM Central Time.

At that time, the National Weather Service, in a partnership with Kentucky Emergency Management, the Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee and Kentucky Broadcasters Association will issue a test tornado warning message.

The sirens will sound and weather radios will be activated. Plus, TV and radio stations will broadcast an alert.

This will give the public the opportunity to practice tornado safety.

For more information about the activities planned during Severe Weather Awareness Week, see the issued press release here.
