Owensboro Police Identify Shooting Victim in Assault Case

Friday night, Owensboro police were called to the 2100 block of Carpenter Drive in response to reports of shots being fired.

When they arrived, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

18-year-old Tyshawn Hawkins of Owensboro  was immediately transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

The 17-year-old assailant was been charged with first-degree assault and possession of a defaced firearm.

The shooting happened not very far away from Apollo High School.

According to the OPD, the investigation remains open.
