Owensboro’s Aric Holman Signs Contract with L.A. Lakers

Former Owensboro High School basketball star Aric Holman just finished a tremendous collegiate career at Mississippi State.

In fact, the talented forward--who averaged 9.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game--helped lead the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade.

Well, now, it's on to the next level for Aric.

And, by next level, I mean the Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite going undrafted at Thursday night's NBA Draft, the Lakers were, nonetheless, interested and offered Holman a contract.

I'm not exactly sure what the deal entails, but LakersNation.com says he's been signed.

But SilverScreenandRoll.com indicates it's a deal to get him into the Lakers' summer leagues in Sacramento and Las Vegas, which is an important step to earning his way onto the floor.

Going undrafted doesn't mean what it used to mean. Fred Van Vleet had a tremendous career at Wichita State but went undrafted. And, yet, he just scored an NBA championship ring as a guard for the Toronto Raptors.

And the Raptors would never have won the title without Van Vleet's valuable contributions.
