Technically it is the Glover Cary bridge. But, we call it the "Blue Bridge" because of its color. Friday September 30th was a fun day for Owensboro. For the first time in 3 months the Owensboro Bridge was open to traffic. For the first time in more than a half century it was open to foot traffic. Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has hoped several hundred people would show for the walk/bike/run/skate before you drive experience. He was wrong, very wrong.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has set a target date for closure of Owensboro’s Blue Bridge.  A contractor plans to close the bridge at 6:00 a.m. on July 5, 2011, to allow reconstruction of a major portion of the bridge deck.
