Lane Goodwin

His story truly inspired the world.  And, late last year, when Lane Goodwin's "Thumbs Up" craze spread like wildfire through the digital landscape, I think every single person who heard his story was inspired.  I know that I was.  And I decided that Lane was the perfect inspiration for this year's original St. Jude song.

Lane Goodwin touched hundreds of thousands of lives in his short time with us. His courageous battle with the monster that is cancer will never be forgotten and his light will shine on forever. After his passing, his family released this statement:

As many know by now, Lane Goodwin, the young man who had been battling Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma Stage IV – a rare and very aggressive form of childhood cancer - passed away. Today, his parents issued a statement to the community and all those who had participated in the Thumbs Up for Lane campaign.

Lane Goodwin - the McLean County, Kentucky, boy who bravely fought a long battle against a rare childhood form of cancer has sadly lost his battle with cancer at 7:53 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
