Local help center, OASIS (Owensboro Area Shelter and Information Services) is one of 500 finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program, which wll award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public. 1490 WOMI joins Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne and Daviess County Judge Executive Al Mattingly in encouraging the public to vote for OASIS before the end of the day today, Tuesday

I was in Molene Illinois this past weekend to announce Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam. While there I visited the John Deere Pavilion. The Pavilion is on River Rd. across from the I-Wireless Center and the attached Raddison hotel.

Moon Mullins posted a photo of Gabes statue the other day. Gabe used to welcome visitors to Owensboro from his spot at the corner of 18th and Triplett. That was the location of the famous Gabes Restaurtant and the sleek and modern Gabes Tower.

Photo by: Joe Lowe Kathy and I took our two youngest Grandkids on a day trip to Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville yesterday. The Zoo is less than an hour away (only one bathroom stop away for 3 and 5 yr olds). We purchased the tickets on the Value Connection to save money.

On March 30, 1973 all U.S. troops withdrew from Vietnam. In a ceremony long overdue these troops were welcomed home Wednesday March 30, 2011 here in Owensboro.

Every Valentine's Day for the last 20 years, Loveland Ski Area has held its Marry Me & Ski For Free Mountaintop Matrimony event, in which couples can get married at 12,000 feet. At the end of the ceremony, couples ski downhill for a party with cake and music. Check out photos from this year's event.
