I don't imagine the news that University of Kentucky forward P.J. Washington is currently wearing a walking boot was particularly welcome news in Big Blue Nation.

ESPN is reporting, via the Associated Press, that the Wildcats' invaluable sophomore has been wearing it since Sunday.

UK's scoring and rebounding leader is in Jacksonville, Florida with the rest of the 'Cats preparing for Thursday evening's NCAA Tournament first-round match-up against Abilene Christian.

Kentucky has not released any details about the nature of the injury and says the boot is a precautionary measure. UK will give an update Wednesday about Washington's condition.

If anything--and no offense to Abilene Christian--but Kentucky can likely afford to sit Washington out against the 15th-seeded Wildcats from central Texas.

But if UK wins, Washington will most certainly be needed against either Wofford or Seton Hall on Saturday.

A Big Blue (and nervous) Nation awaits.
