At Western Kentucky University The Spirit Makes The Master and no one exemplifies that more than President Gary Ransdell. A proud WKU alum, Dr. Ransdell understands and appreciates everything that a Hilltopper embodies. For close to twenty years, Dr. Ransdell has served the university as President, but recently announced his reign as King of the Hill is winding down.

After considerable thought, Julie and I have decided that 20 years on the job is long enough to fulfill the commitment...

As a proud Hilltopper myself, I can say that I hate to see Dr. Ransdell go, but I can't express how amazing he has been as our President. I've said it ever since my time in Bowling Green, but there is no doubt in my mind he is one of the best in the country. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who not only cares about their campus, but genuinely cares about their students, past, present and future, as much as he always has. It was truly an honor to shake his hand receiving my diploma in Diddle Arena and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

According to the WKU Herald, Dr. Ransdell is planning on June 30, 2017 as his last day in office, followed by a six-month sabbatical ending December 31, 2017.

On behalf of all our Hilltopper family, please let me say Thank You to Dr. Ransdell, his lovely wife Julie and the entire Ransdell family. You will be greatly missed.
