The 2012 International BBQ Festival in Owensboro is now in the books. The two day event say a new festival layout that many people liked.

The expanded Arts and Crafts area combined with tons of different kinds of food made for a great midway feel. The addition of a Zip Line plus additions to the Kids area was also welcomed.

The cooking teams surrounding the court house with picnic tables on the court house lawn gave festival goers some much needed space to relax.

The music was fun with a different sound on each of the stages made things fun. The car show has become a car/motorcycle/truck show with new and exciting vehicles on display. I even liked the political forum placement this year.

In between eating, talking, watching the grandkids and judging I did manage to take a few pictures. I hope these photos can in some small way tell the story of this fun 34 year old event.

I am writing this Monday morning two days after the BBQ Fest and I am already looking forward to the 35th International BBQ FEST. Next year is going to be bigger and better with the opening of the new downtown riverfront. Maybe we should have two of three BBQ festivals yearly?
