During the Holiday season everyone in radio plays Christmas music in one form or another. There are great traditional songs like Silent Night, O Come all Ye Faithfull.

Also popular are the American Standards, White and Blue ChristmasIt's beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Pretty Paper to name a few. Then there are the novelty and parody songs. Grandma got Run  Over by a Reindeer, You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Snoopy vs the Red Baron are some great novelty songs.

The parody songs are among my favorites. Some are national hits like Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck 10 Days of Christmas and Bob Rivers, "The Restroom Door Said Gentlemen" and Chipmunks Roasting by an Open Fire. Every so often you can find local Parodies produced by very creative and unbalanced people at home.

During the late 80's and 90's we had the most creative people Ihave ever worked with doing radio in Owensboro. The best known of this group was Brian Jackson who did mornings on WSTO 96.1.

Brian created and produced parodies that are unequaled today. His timeless wit and ability to bring a smile to your face is a gift meant to be shared. Brian did so many parodies that he created a name for his musical group.

Furry Head and the Favorites were a staple for morning radio listeners in the tri-state. Nothing was funnier than his timeless Christmas Songs.

I hope as you listen to this bit of local radio history you remember the first time these Holiday Favorites put a smile on your face. If you have never heard Furry Head and the Favorites, get ready for a treat.

I really miss Brian on the radio. He was and remains today one of the tri-states truly gifted entertainers.
