Country Heights to Host Region 5 Governor’s Cup

Country Heights Elementary School is hosting the Region 5 Governor’s Cup competition on Saturday, March 17. The school is located at 4961 Kentucky 54. The academic event is sponsored by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition.

 In addition to the host school, participating schools are Audubon, Burns, Deer Park, East View, Highland, Meadow Lands, Sorgho, Southern Oaks, Tamarack, West Louisville, Whitesville, Calhoun, North Hancock and St. Mary of the Woods elementary schools, Owensboro Catholic 4-6 Campus and Owensboro Middle School South Campus. Students in grades 4-5 are competing in this event.

The Governor’s Cup features eight events, including written assessments in areas of composition, science, social studies, language arts, arts and humanities, and mathematics. In addition, Future Problem Solving involves teams of four students who work collaboratively. 

The Quick Recall event is the only event open to the public. It is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m.
