My family was littered with photographers--my great-grandfather, my grandparents--on my mom's side of the family. They ran the old Mercer Studio downtown on 2nd Street.

In fact, the old staircase that led up to their studio is still there, immediately to the left of Peachtree Antiques if you're looking at the storefront.

In 1937, the Ohio River froze up and my grandmother decided to head down there and take a picture.

My mom found it the other day but neither she nor I can determine exactly where on the riverfront the picture was taken, since so much has changed.

Anyone have any ideas?
