I didn't think this was a big deal until we began to get a ton of phone calls at the station regarding the "OFFICIAL" Halloween Trick or Treat day. I confirmed with the city that Monday October 31st is the day.

As with most homeowners I hope Trick or Treaters will start going door to door sometime after 4:30 p.m. and end by 8 p.m.

We all know the rules: use a flashlight, don't eat anything until Mom or Dad go thru it,(so they get first pick), don't wear a mask or restrictive glasses when crossing a street and dont go to houses that are not lit. Above all have an adult with you and try to have fun.

For those who are concerned about the day here is the official statement from City Hall.

Halloween will be observed on Monday, October 31 within the city of Owensboro.

Halloween is not an official holiday. Government offices and businesses are open as usual and public transit services run on regular schedules. If you drive around in late afternoon or evening, it is important to keep a careful lookout for children trick-or-treating.

Have a safe and happy Halloween.
