This Thursday, April 16th, is Holocaust Remembrance Day. All this week at WKU Owensboro will host a series of events culminating with Holocaust survivor Sonja DuBois speaking Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

Born in The Netherlands during World War II, Clara Van Thyn's parents were deported to a concentration camp two years after Nazi troops invaded the country and they became victims of the Holocaust. She was less than 2 years old when she became an orphan. She was hidden, as were many children whose parents were captured. A non-Jewish couple took Clara and renamed her Sonja and she lived with them until the age of 12. It wasn't until their death when she was 29 when she began to learn about the Holocaust and her parents' sacrifice.

DuBois will present a lecture in the Brown Badgett Conference Center on WKU Owensboro's campus Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. All WKU faculty, staff and students, and members of the public are invited to attend. Seating is limited.

DuBois will also speak at Apollo High School Thursday morning at 8:10 and later at Daviess County High School at 9:44AM.
