As a reminder, southbound lane restrictions are expected on the US 41 Twin Bridges starting today.

All southbound traffic will move to the left-hand or passing lane in this work zone starting at about 8:00 a.m., and continuing through next week. The southbound work zone traffic restriction is expected to remain in place until about 3:00 p.m., each day.

The southbound lane restriction is to allow a detailed inspection of the bridge structure. Engineers are using a Snooper Truck to access the deck substructure on the bridge. To speed the inspection process, a climb team will be inspecting the bridge superstructure and inspectors will be using a man-lift to access the approaches.

The US 41 Twin Bridges, also known as the Bi-State Vietnam Gold Star Memorial Bridges, are located at US 41 49, about a mile south of the Kentucky-Indiana State Line. They carry approximately 37,000 vehicles per day across the Ohio River between Henderson, KY, and Evansville, IN.

The northbound bridge was opened to traffic on July 4, 1932. The southbound bridge was opened to traffic in December 1966.
