On May 21, 2012, at approximately 11:20 a.m., the OwensboroPolice Department responded to a possible methamphetamine lab located on the grounds of Newton-Parrish Elementary School, 510 W. Byers Avenue.

Detectives with the Street Crimes Unit were called out and verified that the item located on the property near the playground was an active one-pot methamphetamine lab. The lab was safely contained and removed from the scene without causing any exposure to the children at the school.

The Owensboro Police Department is requesting anyone with information about this case to call us at 270-687-8888. We thank OPD for helping keep our kids safe from these people who would do them harm.

Let's all do what we can to bring those responsible for this meth lab on school property to justice. We should also encourage the judicial system to punish the bad guys to the fullest extent of the law. A crime is bad enough, close to a school yard is way over the line.

If you wish to remain anonymous, call in your tip to Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484. You may be compensated if your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest.
