Being new in the area I'm not used to being so close to big cities and being able to get there in 2 hours or less.  Louisville, Nashville, St. Louis and Cincinnati are wonderfully close.  From my home, Marietta, Ohio,  those destinations are roughly 4-10 hours away and take a little planning.   Having said that I'm not yet used to being able to make the decision to just jump in the car and go without really thinking about it.

My girlfriend Margaret and I spend our time together either drinking coffee or looking at the river from the front seat because its been too cold to step out of the car.  Tuesday, I refused to sit around and do nothing all day.  Then I remembered how close Nashville was! I had a few extra bucks so we hit the Natcher and were off to the Music City.  No plans.

The Band Perry's first album came in handy upon arrival.   41 degrees, windows down, volume on 30, Nashville downtown lunch rush and Margaret hanging out of the window dancing and singing something about a Persian rug on a rich man's floor ... We made an entrance to say the least.

After a few laps around Music Row we finally found a parking spot on 2nd Avenue,  Locked up the Caddy Coupe and headed into town on foot.  We saw the "Batman Building" (AT&T building) also saw lots of people and checked out some shops on Broadway. Then we went for lunch at the Wildhorse Saloon on 2nd which was fantastic and looks a lot bigger on a dead Tuesday afternoon.  After we paid the bill we headed down to the river. It was freezing so we did another Broadway walk and checked out more little places and decided it was about time to go.  Definitely a brief visit but  I didn't want to be too tired for work the next day.  We went to Opry Mills and then headed back to Owensboro.

That probably sounded brief but we had a blast and agreed that more impulse trips would be a good idea.
