World Changers Back in Owensboro This Week

The News Release says it all, "More than 19,000 students made a decision to pay money out of their own pockets in order to help improve living conditions of people across the United States and Canada. 283 students from across the nation will be in Owensboro, KY this week working on a variety of assignments that range from painting buildings to putting new roofs on homes".

World Changers are back in Owensboro this week helping to make live a little better for those who can't afford or can physically do the work need on their homes to make them safe and secure.

 On average, participating students pay $250 to take part in the week. This summer, 90 World Changers projects will take place in more than 85 cities from Alaska to Florida, New York to California, and many places in between. 

In its 22nd summer of operation, World Changers assists cities across North America to alleviate substandard housing. “Our partnerships are they key to the past 22 years. Relationships with cities and churches have provided an avenue for students to make a difference in communities across North America,” says John Bailey, team leader for World Changers. World Changers is an initiative of Lifeway Student Ministries, Church Resources Division.

Following a six-session “how-to” study that participants complete prior to coming, students serving Owensboro will hit the ground running. The major work begins Tuesday of the project. The students will be staying at Apollo High School for the week. This initiative is in partnership with local churches and other local businesses.

If you see World Changers in your neighborhood stop by and say hello. If you see one of their vans in the street be sure to honk and give them a thumbs up. Young people doing good work this summer deserve a pat on the back. Be sure to thank them for being here.
