When I was a kid, I loved Play-Doh. My sisters and I had several of the most popular Play-Doh toys. I think my favorite was probably the Play-Doh Mop Top Barber Shop, where the Play-Doh would crank out of the plastic figure's head and then you could cut and style the Play-Doh hair. Remember this?

LOVED IT!  In fact, my sisters and I loved Play-Doh so much that my mother actually used to make it for us.  Yep!  Homemade.  Well, okay.  It wasn't actual Play-Doh.  She called it Clay-Dough.  But you know what?  It worked just the same.  Here's the actual recipe from my mother's recipe box.

Apparently, I am not the only person who grew up with the homemade version of the name brand. My friend Tara Estes recently shared a recipe from Granny Del, her husband Travis' grandmother.  Granny Del was making the homemade stuff for her family out in Hancock County too. She called it Play-Dough.

And wouldn't you know it? There are several video tutorials on YouTube as well.

Trust me on this!  If you want to have some fun with the kids, make some homemade Play-Dough and enjoy.   And the great part about this, if you refrigerate and store your Play-Dough in a sealed container, it will last up to four weeks.

And here's a fun fact too. There's actually a way to make your Play-Dough creations permanent.
