The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department is inviting area businesses and organizations to be a part of the Twenty-third annual Trail of Treats event.  The event has in past years taken place at Moreland Park, however this year event organizers are relocating it to the newly opened Smothers Park, as well as incorporating several downtown businesses.  Trail of Treats is a themed and decorated trick-or-treat path for children and their families.   Local businesses and organizations come together to donate their time, creativity, and lots of candy to give area children safe, memorable, Halloween experience! The event last year drew an estimated 4,400 trick-or-treaters.The evening of fun will take place from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 25th.

This is a wonderful opportunity for businesses and/or organizations to participate in a community tradition. A $100 first place prize will be donated to the charity of choice of both a business category booth and also a non-profit category booth for the best decorated; specific themes and/or costumes are highly recommended.

Over 33 area businesses and organizations participated last year, including Rally’s Hamburger, Apollo High School Key Club, Long John Silvers, Target, Macy’s, Owensboro Sanitation, Lifesavers Club, and College View Middle School’s Builder’s Club just to name a few.

Businesses and organizations must register by Friday, September 28.
