Burns Middle School Students Host Cupcake Wars & Honor Fallen Classmate

Mrs. Katie Heady Blandford teacher Family & Consumer Science for BMS.  One of the best parts of the year is Cupcake Wars.  This year students honor Brookelynne Shannon who passed away earlier this year.

When I worked for Burns I always loved being a judge for Cupcake Wars.  I mean who wouldn't want to taste test cupcakes right?!  The students are asked to create a marketing/advertising strategy, make a recipe (with one unique ingredient), design a theme, frosting, and display it for tasting.  Here are the designs made for Brookelynne;

I was complete taken back and touched to see Brookelynn's mom and sister take part as guest judges.  Mrs. Blandford told us one group even used Hot Fries as their unique ingredient which was Brookelynne's favorite!

It was an honor to judge and I am so proud of the students and always amazed at how well Mrs. Katie Blandford does with her classes.
