The Green River Area Community Foundation (GRACF) named G. Dan Griffith of Owensboro its new executive director at a press conference Tuesday morning, January 10, 2011 at the Chase Bank Building in downtown Owensboro.

According to Jiten Shah, outgoing chairman of the Foundation and chair of the search committee, “Griffith is uniquely q ualified to lead the Green River Area Community Foundation because of his involvement in both state and community philanthropic organizations and his experience in non‐profit management.”

Griffith served as executive director of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Foundation for 13 seasons. Last year he was awarded the National Friends of Public Broadcasting Grassroots Advocacy Award for his work on beha lf of Kentucky Educational Television (KET). He also received KET’s O. Leonard Press ‐ Volunteer of the Year Award.

In 2009, Griffith was recognized by the Owensboro Board of Education and Governor Steve Beshear for his volunteer efforts in the Owensboro Public Schools. He currently serves on the boards of Owensboro Medical Health System’s Foundation for Health and KET’s Governing Board and Friends B oard. Griffith is a graduate of Georgetown College and received his Master of Public Service degree from Western Kentucky University.
