Daviess County EMA Needs Volunteer Actors/Actresses for Special Exercise

Are you ready for your close-up? Are you a burgeoning late-in-life thespian? Do you have visions of footlights dancing in your head?

Clearly, I'm kidding.

This may not be your springboard to stardom, but they need you anyway. And by "they," I mean Daviess County Emergency Management. The agency is planning to conduct a special exercise and needs volunteer actors and actresses.

WHAT IS DAVIESS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency is a division of county government that takes the reins in the event of a disaster, natural or otherwise. Should the need arise, DCEMA will coordinate all manner of response efforts, from mitigation and preparedness to recovery. Training exercises are a frequent occurrence, like this one with the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT):

On Wednesday, September 28th, Daviess County Emergency Management will be conducting an exercise with which they will need the help of volunteer actors and actresses. From DCEMA Facebook:

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE DCEMA EVENT

On the day of the event, volunteers will be transported from Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital via bus, ambulance, and possibly Owensboro Life Flight. While there, participants will be treated for simulated injuries and then taken back to the airport.

Although it appeared, from my early comments, that DCEMA was only looking for adults for this exercise, they actually WOULD love to get kids involved, as long as a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older is present.

This disaster preparedness exercise is not uncommon; the agency conducts one every three years.
