According to the press release:

The Southwestern Indiana Builders Association is hosting the Workforce Housing Symposium on Wednesday, November 29th at the Double Tree by Hilton in Evansville. This symposium will educate, inform and draw area professionals of the private sector to replace blight in the Jacobsville Redevelopment District of Evansville.

This special event will feature five program speakers who have real experience with workforce housing and mixed use developments, community planning and the financing of such projects. Speakers include leaders from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, community redevelopment advocates, Real Estate Professional; Stacy Stevens, Mayor Denny Spinner of Huntingburg, and special guest; Mayor Lloyd Winnecke of Evansville. Seminars will focus on a specific area; the Jacobsville Redevelopment District, and will shed light on the opportunities available to developers, lenders, builders, surrounding businesses and realtors.

The Jacobsville neighborhood, with its recent completion of the North Main Street sidewalks and paving, poses ample opportunities for development of mixed-use buildings and workforce housing. With major employers such as Vectren, Berry, Deaconess and the upcoming IU Med School; there is an immediate need for market-rate housing for those incoming students and staff. Increased housing in the neighborhood will aid in attracting and keeping quality employees in Evansville.

The Workforce Housing Symposium will serve as a catalyst to discussion and action. Builders, developers, lenders, realtors, architects, business owners and neighbors are encouraged to attend. Registrations can be made with Jamie Elliott; Association Services Director with the Southwestern Indiana Builders Association.
