I've been called Pumpkin Pam, Franny Fall, and I'm here for it.  Angel here and who else is ready for Fall?  One Daviess County family is screaming bring on the pumpkins.

I know it's only the beginning of September but I feel like Summer has had her turn.  Move over warm weather give me all the cozy sweatshirts and fabulous yummy smells.

The Raymer family from Philpot has always loved pumpkins and decided why not make it a family affair.  BJ Raymer is an Owensboro Firefighter and his wife, Heather, owns her own salon on 231 called Studio 231.  They have three children; Cole 14, Jolene 13, and Isabella 7.  Here's how it all started;

Our side business , Glowing Jacks Pumpkin Patch started about 5 years ago, my kids were little and they loved pumpkins and we love the fall time and experience of fall and I had the idea of just trying to grow pumpkins and it has been going strong ever since. We do everything ourselves from preparing the land to tilling and planting and hoeing, picking and washing. This is truly a hands-on family business. We work very hard long, hot summer days to provide the best pumpkins we possibly can. We use growing pumpkins in a way to show our kids what hard work and a good work ethic can do for them. Even though it is hard work they can very easily see what they were able to accomplish. Right now we are currently selling pumpkins, today is our opening day. My whole family has been helping out by either helping us wash pumpkins or just trying to keep us fed.

BJ even has his own Youtube channel 5so you can follow him there.  He does pumpkin and wood carvings.  He's hilarious and makes the process super enjoyable.

Glowing Jacks is located about seven minutes from Owensboro out HWY 231 on the left.
