Last May, I had my first experience ever with Girls Inc.'s Red on the River event in downtown Owensboro at the RiverPark Center.  I was asked to emcee the fundraiser, announce the winners of the reverse raffle and conduct the live auction.  Gotta say.  IT. WAS. A. BLAST.  And I, like everyone else, was looking forward to this year's event, which, sadly, was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the folks at Girls Inc. came up with a "strong, smart and bold" alternative.  It's called Red on the River Remix!!  It's a four-hour virtual fundraising event that will broadcast live on social media Friday, July 24th from 4pm to 8pm.  Here's a sneak preview of the event.

I am honored to serve as the emcee for Red on the River Remix and I can tell you this.  I have seen the lineup of special guests and speakers and it's going to be an entertaining and impactful afternoon and evening.  You'll learn about the Girls Inc. mission, hear incredible testimonials from current and former members, plus, see and hear some amazing performances from insanely talented local musicians and singers.

The annual Red on the River event generates roughly $100,000 in operating revenue for the mission.  That total is supported by a generous $45,000 in sponsorship money, which is typically secured before the live event.  But, you can do the quick math.  Because of the cancellation of May's event, Girls Inc. has lost roughly $55,000 generated by it.  So, we're looking for your support tomorrow afternoon.

You'll be able to make donations at RedOnTheRiver.com.  And, remember, a donation of $50 will cover the fees for one Girls Inc. member and her field trips for the entire year.  This is important to note too.  Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Girls Inc. has waived membership fees for all its girls.  That gesture is highly important (and shows Girls Inc.'s commitment to its mission), but it's also costly.  That generosity will end up costing our local Girls Inc. chapter about $25,000.  This is just another reason why YOUR support is encouraged and greatly appreciated.  You can donate by CLICKING HERE.  And, remember,  Your donations stay right here in Owensboro/Daviess County.

So, join us Friday afternoon at 4pm for Red on the River Remix, proudly sponsored by US Bank.
