Icemen Hockey Team Not Moving to Owensboro

The Icemen hockey team, once part of Evansville, will NOT be moving to Owensboro. Friday was the city-imposed deadline for owner Ron Geary to make a final decision. 

Geary had planned to purchase the Owensboro Sportscenter and there was talk of renovating the venue to accommodate a hockey team. In addition to the no-go on the Icemen, Geary is also opting out of Ellis Park pursuing off-track betting and a restaurant in Owensboro.

Mayor Ron Payne received a letter from Geary confirming all pursuits were off.
