It’s Christmas in July at Friday After 5
I bet it was over 120 degrees inside my car when I went for lunch earlier today. I literally couldn't breathe what was passing for air inside of it.
Hello July, I'm happy you're totally comfortable making your presence felt. And of course, when you DO make your presence felt, we are RARELY comfortable.
So, not I do not mind thinking of "Let It Snow," "Winter Wonderland," "Jingle Bells," or just about anything else that will make me think of cooler times. And, no I'm not one of those who LOVES winter just because it can be unbearably hot during these wonderful Kentucky summers.
But come on...120-PLUS DEGREES INSIDE MY CAR.
Anyway, we can ALL think about Christmas this Friday on the Owensboro riverfront as Friday After 5 will be "decking the halls" with Christmas in July.
Get ready for visions of sugar plums dancing in your head and chestnuts roasting over and open...uh, well...you know what I mean.
Week number nine of Friday After 5 will feature a Christmas tree at McConnell Plaza, dancing elves, free children's crafts, Buddy the Elf, a Christmas outfit contest, and, of course, Santa Claus.
The festivities begin at 5 PM with the Kroger Street Fair with food trucks and vendors offering up Christmas in July specials.
From 5:30 to 7:30, Santa Claus and Buddy the Elf will be holding down the fort at McConnell Plaza, which will be converted to CHRISTMAS Plaza for the occasion. Plus, there will be plenty of dancing elves, sponsored by Paramount Staffing.
And, of course, there will be LOTS of great music and a classic Christmas movie.
In fact...
