It would appear that FedEx is scaling back its facilities in Illinois as there is a report that workers have been informed of 3 facility closings this year.

According to a new report by The News-Gazette, FedEx will be closing 3 Illinois locations in 2025. They say that workers have been notified by the company that they will be closing shipping facilities in Effingham, Urbana and Springfield, Illinois.

It's unclear the exact locations in each of these Illinois cities as FedEx only commented on the report saying that employees had been notified and in some cases had been offered opportunities to relocate to other locations or severance depending on the situation.

When contacted for comment, the FedEx spokesperson issued a statement emphasizing how much thought goes into decisions like this and that they're constantly analyzing their network to decide the best way to move forward.

It remains to be seen if these 3 Illinois facilities are the only ones in Illinois that FedEx will close in 2025 or if there will be others.
