The information I've come across about the Illinois exodus isn't someone's opinion. It's pure move-in and move-out data shared by Move Buddha. As a matter of fact, it's not a town or a city at all.
This is The Villages in Florida. Wikipedia says it is "a census-designated place in Sumter and Marion counties in the U.S. state of Florida". It has no less than FIVE zip codes including 32159, 32162, 32163, 34731, 34785, 34762.
It has a move-in move-out rate of 4.38 meaning more than 4 times the number of people choose to move there instead of moving away. For Illinois residents no longer wanting to be Illinois residents and deal with taxes and cold winter weather, The Villages in Florida is flourishing.
The official website for this Florida haven describes itself as "a 55+ community where world-class golf courses, entertainment, recreation, shopping, dining & social activities await".
