Food Chain with 10 Illinois Places Suddenly Declares Bankruptcy
It's hard to remember a year where more restaurant chains have gone through financial struggles than 2024. Another Chicago-based company with 10 Illinois locations is now suddenly in bankruptcy court, too.
Nation's Restaurant News has shared the word that Roti Modern Mediterranean has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Their story says that Roti is based in Chicago and their official website shows 10 different Illinois locations.
- Chicago - Adams
- Chicago - Dearborn
- Chicago - Lake & Michigan
- Chicago - Lincoln Park
- Chicago - West Loop
- Hyde Park
- Mellody Farms
- Northbrook - Skokie & Dundee
- Oak Brook
- Schaumburg
The good news at least in the short term is the press release says that they plan to keep all of their locations including those in Illinois open while they look for financial restructuring and support.
Roti got its start in Chicago way back in 2006 and did reportedly close some locations after the 2020 shutdowns, but the hope is that they can find a new way forward that will enable them to stabilize their operation and grow their brand. The restaurant chain also has locations in Maryland, Minnesota and Washington, D.C.
