Co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., JR Motorsports is set to make its NASCAR Cup Series debut at the 2025 Daytona 500 with a little help from country music superstar Chris Stapleton.

The Daytona 500 will take place on Feb. 16, officially kicking off the 2025 NASCAR racing season. Personally, I'm really looking forward to what's ahead and have already purchased my tickets for the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway later this summer. I attended the event last year and had a ton of fun watching the pack of V8s roar down the front straightaway in person.

As the Super Bowl of stock car racing draws near, many teams have already begun unveiling their paint schemes and sponsors for the race. In fact, one team has just unveiled a car sponsored by Chris Stapleton's Traveler Whiskey, which has been involved in other NASCAR sponsorships previously. The car is owned by JR Motorsports and will actually be the team's very first Cup Series ride.

The "Think I'm In Love With You" singer released his signature whiskey, named after his 2015 album, in January 2024. It's made at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and features complex aromas of vanilla, aged fruit, and buttery shortbread, rounded off by caramel and a touch of oak. According to the distillery, more than 50 blends were sampled in the making of this whiskey, and No. 40 was chosen as the final product. It's currently available nationwide at liquor stores, bars, and restaurants.

Traveler Whiskey Sponsors JRM's First Cup Series Car

Coming off their 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship win, JR Motorsports will be fielding a Cup Series car for the first race of 2025. The No. 40 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be piloted by recent title winner Justin Allgaier himself, whom Dale Earnhardt Jr. has praised as someone with a great attitude both on and off the track. As for the new number featured on the car, that choice was made to align with the story of Traveler Whiskey.

"It’s a connection to the blend No. 40 that Traveler utilizes in every bottle," said Earnhardt Jr. on a Dirty Mo Media podcast, noting that it’s both a first experience for the whiskey brand and the motorsports team.

He added that this will be the team’s only Cup Series entry in 2025, but hopes it will open the door for more Cup-level racing in the future. Allgaier has previously competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, earning a career top-10 finish and Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2009. Fans of NASCAR can watch him race the Traveler Whiskey No. 40 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m. (CST) on Fox.
