The birthplace of beer cheese is located in Kentucky, so it's only appropriate that the only Beer Cheese Festival in the world takes place there.

If you've ever been to a bar there is a good chance you've tried beer cheese or at least seen it on a menu.  I'm not even a fan of beer, but I do enjoy a good beer cheese dip to enjoy with pretzels or tortilla chips.  According to The Spruce Eats, beer cheese is believed to have originated in the Bluegrass State.

Beer cheese is a smooth cheese dip or spread made by combining shredded or melted cheese with flattened beer along with various spices and seasonings. It's said to have originated in Kentucky where it's widely popular as a snack and typically served with crackers.

One Google search will give you dozens of recipes for beer cheese, so find the one that sounds the most appealing to you and give it a try.  Or if you'd rather leave the beer cheese to the pros, why not enjoy a festival dedicated solely to beer cheese?

Kentucky's Beer Cheese Festival

The Beer Cheese Festival takes place every year in Winchester, Kentucky it also happens to be located in Clark County which has been officially recognized as the birthplace of beer cheese.

Clark County was officially recognized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as the birthplace of beer cheese in 2013.

The Beer Cheese Festival will take place on June 8th.  There will be vendors, crafts, activities for kids, and plenty of beer cheese to sample.

The Beer Cheese Festival in beautiful, historic downtown Winchester, KY is the only festival in the world dedicated to the celebration of beer cheese!

Every 2nd Saturday in June, downtown comes alive with music, food, crafts, shopping, children’s activities, and of course, beer cheese.  Lots and lots of beer cheese!

The event is free to the public.
