Meet Evansville First Responders at National Night Out
One of Evansville's biggest community events celebrating the partnership between residents and local law enforcement is returning this summer, and it's happening at a brand-new location.
The Evansville Police Department, Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, and several local community organizations will host National Night Out 2026 on Tuesday, August 4, inviting families to enjoy an evening of free food, demonstrations, activities, and opportunities to meet the people who help keep our community safe.
This year's event will take place in the Civic Center Courtyard, located on Locust Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Southeast 9th Street.

What is National Night Out?
National Night Out is an annual event held in communities across the country to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.
The goal is simple: create opportunities for conversations outside of emergency situations, introduce residents to the officers who patrol their community, and connect families with local resources in a fun, welcoming environment.
Whether you've attended before or this will be your first time, it's a chance to ask questions, learn more about public safety, and spend an evening with neighbors.
What You'll See At This Year's Event
The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature plenty to explore.
Visitors can expect to meet members of the:
- SWAT Team
- Bomb Squad
- K-9Unit
- Crime Prevention Unit
- School Resource Officers
- Motorcycle Traffic Unit
There will also be community resource booths, giveaways, and free food available throughout the evening.
Fun For the Whole Family
National Night Out is designed to be a family-friendly event, making it a great opportunity for kids to see police equipment up close, meet K-9 officers, and interact with first responders in a relaxed setting.
It's also an opportunity for adults to learn more about local programs, ask questions, and meet the officers serving Evansville outside of an emergency call.
