State Park in Southern Indiana Needs Volunteers for Playground Improvements
An Indiana State Park is looking for volunteers to help make some improvements to the park.
Making It Better for Future Visitors
One of the first imrpovement projects on their list is playground upgrades that will help ensure a positive and impactful experience for future visitors to the State Park, and as the expression goes, "many hands make light work."
Harmonie State Park Looking for Helping Hands
That's exactly why Harmonie State Park, is asking for volunteers. The park has improvements planned for the playground, and they are looking for extra hands to make light work of the job.
Adults, Youth & Scout Groups Invited to Volunteer
In a post to Facebook, the park says they are looking for adults interested in volunteering, as well as area youth that may be in need of service hours. They also welcome scout groups in search of a service project.
First Volunteer Opportunity: Playground Improvements
On March 15, 2025, volunteers are needed to help spread mulch, install new playground borders, and help install new swings to the facility.
Volunteers Should Plan to Come Prepared
Volunteers are asked to come prepared with water, snacks, and of course, work gloves. Additionally, the park will provide some hand tools, but volunteers who are able, are encouraged to bring tools with them as well, like shovels, rakes, pitchforks, and sledgehammers.
Where to Go to Volunteer at Harmonie State Park
If you are available to help with the playground improvements on March 15th, you are encouraged to arrive at the Harmonie State Park Nature Center at 9 am CST to meet staff and other volunteers.
Other Available Volunteer Opportunities at Harmonie State Park
If you are unable to attend on March 15th to help with the playground project, Harmonie State Park has other projects planned that will provide volunteer opportunities as well.
- March 17th - They will be doing their annual Spring Clean Up
- April 5th - They will be working to remove invasive species from the grounds
- May 12th - They will be performing work on the trails
- June 9th - They will be working to remove invasive species from the grounds
- September 6th - They will be performing work on the trails
They do say that all planned work is weather permitting, so be sure you check their Facebook for any updates. Additionally, according to a recent post, they are still looking to fill a few camground host spots. Learn more about that here.
