Illinois gets summer for only a few months, but that doesn't mean we won't find things to complain about still.
We complain when it gets chilly outside, when the wind is too strong, when it's too humid, and when it rains too much. I would say the one thing I can't stand about Illinois summers is all the road construction. I get it! It's easier to dig holes, fill potholes, and make the roads safer to drive on, but man, is it a struggle to navigate all the traffic cones.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this. But I know for dang sure many of you Illinoisans can agree that these are the worst parts of summer.

Mosquitoes
I am so allergic to these little devils. One little bite and my entire leg blows up. This is why I spray a lot of bug spray, but then I end up all sticky. A lose-lose, honestly.
Humidity
We'll take the sun, but not the thickness... you feel me? You either need summer clothes or no clothes at all sometimes. Don't even think about wearing makeup either—it'll melt right off.
Potholes
Yes, they're a year-round complaint, but in the summertime your iced coffees will go flying without notice. We can't lose $8 worth of caffeine!

Fireworks at 2am
Let's be real, fireworks start in June and end in August. They're never just a "July" thing. We don't really get a break from fireworks all summer long, yay us...
But, hey, I'll take humidity and fireworks at 2am over snowstorms any day.
