About once a month, my best friend and I plan a "date night" so we can hang out and let loose. With the pressures of jobs, kids, families, and everything that comes with managing a household, it's important to carve out time to catch up and enjoy a few hours without all the noise of everyday life.

Fun and Affordable Girls’ Night Ideas

Our date nights don't have many rules - just that whoever’s planning it has to get creative, and it can’t be outrageously expensive. We’ve done everything from crafting and spa nights to dinner and a showing of When Harry Met Sally when it was back in theaters. We've hit up concerts and even gone to plays at our old high school.

Trying Something New: Pottery at The Art Lab

Most recently, we took a pottery class at The Art Lab and made cat bird feeders. It was SO fun and SO challenging! Ha!

What Is the Early Bird Dance Party?

One thing I came across online recently looked perfect for our date nights… but the closest location is in Chicago. Guess we’re going to have to start a petition to bring it here! It’s called the Early Bird Dance Party, and it’s made for Millennials and Gen Xers who still love to cut loose but just don’t have it in them to start the night at midnight anymore.

A Dance Club for Millennials and Gen Xers

The parties are held at different venues, start at 6 PM, and wrap up by 10. It’s a pop-up dance club with great music (that Millennials and Gen Xers would like), cocktails and mocktails, and all-around good vibes. It must be pretty amazing, most of the events I checked were already waitlisted.

The Story Behind the Earlybirds Club

Naturally, I got curious about how this started and looked up their “About” page. Turns out, like my friend Katie and me, it was started by two high school besties who used to have a blast together. They missed being able to go out and dance all night because who has time to feel like crap the next day? Laura and Susie started the Earlybirds Club “as a celebration of female friendship, dancing as therapy, and finding happiness anywhere you can.” The site also shared that Susie has battled cancer five times. The club has become a safe space for older women to prioritize themselves and embrace the healing power of positivity and communal joy.

Who is Invited to the Early Birds Dance Club?

Well, the target demo is women 30+ but the website is very clear that it's an inclusive environment. So, if you're outside the demo but are down with partying with a bunch of fun ladies, come on witcha bad self!
