Do You Own a Piece of History?

Even though I don't really see myself as a collector, there's one regret in my life that stands out above the rest. It involves me missing the opportunity to own a rare item from a famous person who's no longer with us.

My husband and I attended a gala for a local animal rescue, and I knew better than to bring him to an auction. He tends to splurge on things we don’t really need. That night, there was an original Charles Schulz piece featuring Snoopy. As a lifelong Peanuts fan, I was immediately smitten. I thought for sure my husband would secretly bid on it, so I didn’t check on it throughout the evening, hoping to be surprised. Turns out, I got my surprise alright. He didn’t bid at all. He figured if I wanted it, I'd get it myself. But he did manage to buy a Gorilla Goal - which still sits in the box in the garage. I was so disappointed, I nearly divorced him on the spot!

Turns out, the piece didn’t sell that night. Instead, the rescue sold raffle tickets, but alas, I didn’t win. I don’t usually dwell on regrets, but that one definitely makes my top three. It wasn’t about the autograph or owning something a famous person touched—it was about having a piece of history. The starting bid was only $200. (Ugh, I’m still kicking myself!)

Calling Johnny Cash Fans

Now, if you’re a Johnny Cash fan, here's your chance to own a piece of his history.

Nestled in Hendersonville, TN, right outside of Nashville, an authentic log cabin home built for the iconic singer, sits on a 5.8 acre lot. And you can own it - for only $2,999,999! Sorry, that's a little more than my $200 ORIGINAL Charles Schultz.

According to the listing:

Welcome to Sycamore Homestead, the legendary home compound of master builder Braxton Dixon. Nestled amidst 5.8 tranquil acres, this exceptional property boasts a main residence originally constructed for the iconic Johnny Cash. The estate features not only the main house, but also two guest homes, a barn, a tea room, and a smokehouse—all meticulously reconstructed from pre-Civil War log structures relocated to this enchanting location. Historical authenticity is woven into every corner, with slate floors mined directly from the site and expansive timbers secured by original blacksmith-forged nails. Braxton Dixon, revered as the "builder for the stars," created masterpieces for legends such as Johnny and June Carter Cash, Roy Orbison, Donna Fargo, Don Pierce, Fred Foster, Marty Stuart, Connie Smith, and many others. This secluded treasure is now seeking a creative and passionate soul ready to breathe new life into its storied halls. Dare to dream, and make Sycamore Homestead your own.

The main home is a little over 3,000 square feet. The compound sleeps six and offers five bathrooms. It would make a gorgeous AirBnB, wedding venue, or home for the right family. I am nowhere near Hendersonville, TN, but I can smell these photos of the home. Can't you? And, if you are going to ask if the home comes with a visit or two from Johnny Cash's ghost - well, no promises. But, you never know!
