Okay, I've been waiting since the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which was almost two weeks ago, to watch the first ever breaking (breakdancing) competition.

When I looked up the schedule, I had to scroll and scroll to find it. On Friday, I did my usual stuff, school crossing guard duty, and walking at the park, and I returned to the apartment around 9:30 and turned on Peacock. Here's the catch, you have to search for events that aren't part of the daily coverage on the NBC channels. All you have to do is find the "Olympics" heading on Peacock's main menu, and it shows you what's live and what's upcoming.

I saw that icon similar to the photo above and hit play as fast as possible. I noticed right away it had been raining, however, the surface was in great shape for the B-Girls. Yeah, I only saw the girls breaking but what a show! Check it out.

Anna Gunn did not score any points or votes in her three appearances in the competition. All I kept thinking was, she's older than most of her competitors but it's all a mind game and she's going to bring it. (Cue The Price is Right Horn). But Gunn was upfront about her performance (From Sports Illustrated--"I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best--their power moves. What I bring is creativity". I do think the kangaroo gestures were a little too on the nose.

To add insult to injury, breaking will not be back for the summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. It's a scheduling issue, but I'm willing to say that's not the whole story. This ruins my idea for a Breakin' franchise reboot. The movies were based in LA. Picture it, the old gang gets back together to mentor a new generation of breakers and prepare them for the Olympics.

No matter what happens with breaking at the Olympics, it was a great debut and it was a ton of fun to watch.

I was just going to stick to Owensboro but then decided to throw it open to the rest of the Commonwealth.
