Remembering Dakota Rager at the Lil’ Rager Poker Run

For years, the Lil’ Rager Memorial Poker Run has been a reminder that one person’s life can continue to make a difference long after they’re gone.

Dakota Rager, a Belton native, was only 24 years old when he tragically passed away on November 16, 2015. Those who knew Dakota describe him as giving, loyal, strong, stubborn, resilient, and sweet. He was the kind of person who cared about others and was always willing to help.

After losing Dakota, his loved ones wanted to create something that honored the way he lived by giving back. The Lil’ Rager Memorial Poker Run was created from that idea, and each year it continues to bring people together while keeping his memory alive.

This year’s event will once again be about more than just the ride. All proceeds will benefit Muhlenberg County Family Resources, helping families in need with children have a Christmas they deserve.

The event will take place Saturday, July 25th, at Beechmont Community Center. Registration begins from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with kickstands up at 11:15 a.m. Riders can expect a round-trip route of approximately 75 to 100 miles.

All street-legal vehicles are welcome, including motorcycles, cars, diesel trucks, dune buggies, and more. No ATVs or golf carts will be allowed. The cost is $20 per motor vehicle, and extra hands may be purchased.

Participants will return around 2 p.m., followed by a car show from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a $20 entry fee. The day will also include a 50/50 drawing, silent auction, and more.

What started as a way to remember Dakota has become a tradition of kindness, generosity, and community. His legacy continues through the people who show up, give back, and keep his memory alive.
