It was smokin' in Downtown Owensboro this weekend for BBQ & Barrels. The event featured delicious food, continuous live music, and a carnival for the kids, with beautiful views of the Ohio River. Let's take a look back at a fun weekend.

This weekend we celebrated the tastes and sounds of Daviess County, Kentucky. My favorite part was the cooking competition, listening to live music, sampling BBQ and the community coming together. From barbecue to live music, I had a great time with family, coworkers, and friends. Overall BBQ & Barrels was a finger-lickin' and boot-stompin' good time! What did you think of the two-day festival?

2023 BBQ & BARRELS FESTIVAL

While the Backyard BBQ teams competed, delicious samples of smoked bologna, chicken, venison, brisket, and more were served. I can still taste the savory flavors of BBQ on my lips. Although the cooking teams were fewer for various reasons, watching them stir the burgoo in the big pot, flip the chickens, and smell the smoke coming into Downtown Owensboro was still fun. The kids were all smiles with painted faces while riding rides at the carnival. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, these photos summarize the festival. Although it was a hot day, it was fun to get out and enjoy a weekend together.
